Commitment and Expense

This would depend on which position you are applying for but generally if it is a leadership role then we would want a minimum commitment of 12 months, but ideally 2-3 years. For a non leadership position you could commit to as little as a few months.

  • Do I need to know the Thai language?

Although it would be an advantage, it is not a requirement. All volunteers who desire it will have access to language training.  We find that it is easiest to learn a language while you are living and working among the people, so don’t let language stop you.  We believe anyone can learn a language.

  • How much would I need to raise to cover my living expenses?

We ask all volunteers to raise their own support so they can cover their living expenses while volunteering overseas. However, unlike in western nations, the cost of living is substantially lower on many things here in Thailand.  Some things are more expensive.

The largest expense is your airfare, ranging from approximately $1100 to $2300 to fly into Thailand. Once you are in Thailand, you would need to have approx $500 per month raised if you are a single person, and more if you are married with children; generally around $2500/mo..

You will be required to obtain a visa, which average around $200 or more per year.  Our staff will help you apply for visa and work permit.

We can offer ideas and tools to help you in your support raising.

How do I apply?

Contact us and we will talk with you to begin the process and answer any questions you may have.
